Advent Tidende

Advent Tidende, known as Advent Herald in Danish, was a Christian magazine published in the United States. This monthly periodical, printed in the Danish language, was in circulation from 1871 to 1883. Its editor was John Gotlieb Matteson and the publisher was Syvende-Dags Advent Trykkeri-Selskab. The magazine was headquartered in Battle Creek, Michigan, a city known for its significant Seventh-day Adventist population.

The publication of Advent Tidende marked the first time the Seventh-day Adventists published in a language other than English. The magazine was initiated by the Scandinavian Seventh-day Adventists, a Protestant Christian denomination. The first issue was a 21-page monthly publication, but in the second year of its existence, the magazine expanded to thirty-two pages.

Throughout its run, several copies of Advent Tidende were sent to both Denmark and Norway from the USA. When the magazine ceased publication in 1883, its legacy was carried forward by its successor, Sandhedens Tidende.{{Categories}}
