The Amateur Astronomer was a four-page bulletin circulated by the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York from 1929 to 1935. The inaugural editor was C. S. Brainin, and starting in 1933, a section titled “Meteor Notes” was managed by Virginia Geiger. The publication's life came to a close in 1935 when it amalgamated with The Sky, a publication produced by the Hayden Planetarium. This union did not mark the end of The Amateur Astronomer's lineage, as The Sky later merged with The Telescope in 1941 to form Sky & Telescope, a periodical that continues to be printed to this day.{{Categories}}
